okay! this will be a new aspect of the blog, i suppose, where i comment on why i took the pictures i did (or posted the ones my friend lindsay [in whom i have complete style trust; she may also be commenting here] took).
photo 1. i saw this girl on the corner of 18th and columbia, and i immediately noticed her cute vintage dress and the contrast of the blue and white with the green of her bag. in retrospect i should have asked her to put her (large brown) sunglasses back on (as the sun was blinding her) but her blocking-of-the-sun looks a bit like she's saluting, and i think she looks really sort of charming.
photo 2. ziggy (zigi? i'm sorry for the spelling) i met around 18th and california; she looked adventurous and really confident in her style. the downward angle of the picture doesn't really do the boots justice. she was an ideal person to photograph because even though i don't know her at all i got the feeling that she looked like HERSELF, and i think that's really important.

What kind of shoes was the girl in photo 1 wearing? I'm just curious... I like her bag and look. Very cute.

siiiiigh, i'd tell you, but then i'd have to admit that i broke my rule of never photographing anyone wearing flip flops for the blog. so i'll just say that yesterday was 77degrees, she was clearly out walking around the city, and the rest of her outfit was so cute that the three facts converged to justify asking to take her picture even though she was wearing (albeit, a fairly inoffensive pair of) the footwear-of-which-i-do-not-speak.
